Gyde Balzer Carstensen has been working in the field of inventions and patents since 2009.

She began her career at one of Denmark’s largest patent offices and up until her employment at Larsen & Birkeholm she has worked as an in-house patent attorney with a number of major Danish companies - including Novo Nordisk, Lundbeck and Zealand Pharma - as well as start-up Metaceutic.

She has extensive knowledge and experience with project and product-related inventions, preparation of patent applications and the processing of these by authorities worldwide, as well as handling patent-related risks.

From her time as a project manager with product responsibility at Novo Nordisk, Gyde has the necessary overview and know-how when it comes to the practical execution of patent challenges in connection with enforcement of rights, evidence collection and presentation of evidence. That is why Gyde is a versatile adviser when potential patent risks need to be assessed and mitigated — or negotiations supported.

While being a specialist in her field, Gyde is also passionate about communicating her specialist knowledge and providing overview in order to make decisions easier to make. Not least to people without previous patent experience. She therefore founded the educational company PATENTsmarter™ in 2020. Here, she disseminates useful knowledge to inventors and decision-makers about intellectual property rights and especially patents.
